Cotton is not regulated as a food crop, cottonseed oil may contain chemical pesticides that are banned in food production. It is also almost always genetically modified. Hydrogenated oils, of course, typically contain trans fats, the artificially produced fats that are unusable by the body and that studies have linked to a number of detrimental health problems. And autolyzed yeast extract is a chemical taste-enhancing ingredient containing free glutamate that manufacturers use as a friendlier-looking replacement for MSG.

And what about the chicken in Chicken McNuggets? It's factory-farmed chicken, not free-range chicken. So it's the kind of chicken that's typically treated with vaccines and hormones while being fed conventional feed pro

ducts that are medicated with pharmaceuticals and grown with pesticides.

Yum!! Don't forget to ask for extra dipping sauce. We haven't even talked about what you'll find in there...

Chicken nuggets: Call 'em tasty, call 'em crunchy, call 'em quick and convenient. But maybe you shouldn't call them "chicken."  When put under the microscope, one chicken sample consisted of just 40 percent skeletal muscle — what we tend to think of as "meat" — and just 19 percent protein. The other sample was 50 percent meat and only 18 percent protein.

Are you still going to eat chicken nuggets after this?

It's not pink goop. It's more like a beige-ish sludge. Gross? Not entirely because ground up raw chicken meat made on a mass level will probably never look appetizing, no matter how clean the process and how delicious the result is. But at least it's good to know you're not eating alien meat?
McDonald's Canada  recently addressed what's actually inside a McDonald's Chicken Nugget and it's not as exotic as we were afraid to believe.
It starts with a whole chicken which is sliced up and separated into their specific cuts. Chicken breast is separated and collected into a bin. The bin o' chicken is then ground up and chicken skin and seasoning is added to a meat blender. The blended chicken is then shaped into the four official chicken nugget shapes and dabbed with a light and heavy batter. It doesn't exactly look good when it's made, but it's still chicken.
